Is an electric car always cheaper to run?
No. Energy cost depends on consumption and the price you actually pay. Expensive public charging can cost more than petrol. This tool shows both outcomes without assuming a winner.
Is this a total cost of ownership calculation?
No. The calculator covers energy, your entered purchase-price difference and an optional charger cost. It does not estimate depreciation, resale value, financing, insurance, maintenance or vehicle tax.
Are these today’s fuel and electricity prices?
No. Starting prices are illustrative examples. Enter the gross prices from your electricity bill, charging tariff and filling station for a relevant comparison.
Can I use a diesel car instead?
The litres × price formula also works for diesel. Enter diesel consumption and price, and interpret the “Petrol” column as your diesel vehicle. Other ownership costs are still excluded.
